LA MARE TENNIS CLUB (Junior Section)

We are delighted to advise that we are operating the Junior Section of La Mare Tennis Club.

The aim of the club is to encourage junior tennis players to play more tennis within a club environment with no expensive monthly membership fees. Weekly Sunday morning sessions are held with adult supervision for children between 4 and 14 yrs.

These sessions are not a substitute for tennis lessons but more an opportunity to put into practice what has been learnt and to give the opportunity to play more to improve more quickly within a friendly social environment.

The Sunday sessions times are:-

10.30am - 11.30am 4-8 Yrs
11.30am - 12.30pm 8 Yrs +

In addition to the weekly sessions a number of event will be held during 2012 as follows:-

11 Feb 2.0-4.0pm Fun Play Day
10 Mar 2.0-4.0pm Hog Dog Tournament
31 Mar 2.0-4.0pm Parent/Junior Tournament
11-13 Apr 2.0-4.0pm 3 day Easter Camp, lunch provided, video analysis, technical advice, fun games and tournament.
5 May 2.0-4.0pm Family Fun Day
9 Jun 1.0-4.30pm Family BBQ & Fun Play
21 Jul 2.0-4.0pm End of Term Fun Tournament
11-12 Aug La Mare Junior Tournament
15-17 Aug 3 Day Summer Camp (as Easter)
1 Sep 2.0-4.0pm Back to School Tennis Fun Day

There may be an additional cost for some of the above events.

The Membership Fees for 2012 are:-

1 Jan to 31 March £29
1 Apr to 31 Aug £49
1 Sep to 31 Dec £39
1 Jan to 31 Dec £99 (all year option)

However, for those children taking coaching lessons with us at either Kings or Beau Sejour the cost of La Mare Membership will be only £10 for short term membership for the duration of the tennis coaching course signed up for. This discounted rate is only applicable if the Beau Sejour or Kings course fees have been paid. Late payers of fees will not qualify for discounted membership of La Mare.

PERFORMANCE SQUADS

In addition to the advertised sessions we will hold weekly performance squad training with attendees by invite only. If you would like to try out to join our squad training, contact us on info@skillsetci.com for a trial.

JUNIOR RACKET SIZE GUIDANCE

Most websites will tell you to choose a racket according the the height of your child. Whilst this must be taken into account you must also consider the child's stucture and co-ordination plus co-ordination and level of play.

The following racket sizes work well for children bearing in mind that most children do not have problems in handling a little longer than most size charts recommend with the extra weight and length giving extra leverage when hitting the ball.

19" 3 & Under
21" 3-4 Years
23" 4-5 Years
25" 6-7 Years
26" 8-10 Years
27" Adult Size - 11 Yrs & up
