WE ARE PROUD TO PRESENT OUR TEAM Jose Alvarez Born in Tenerife, qualified as a Level One FA Coach in 2002 and has last year coached Northerners AC Youth 3 side to "the treble". Jose attained his first tennis qualification at Bisham Abbey in 1992 and became a LTA Development Coach in 1998. He has been coaching tennis on the island for 15 years now. This year Jose will take his FA Level 2 Football exams and is a qualified Futsal Coach. Jose is married to Sharon and has 4 children. Richard Smeed Richard was a junior island footballer, under 18 CI badminton champion and well known for playing and coaching tennis. He has represented Guernsey and CI at County level and won 2 island singles and a record 10 Island doubles championships with partner Ian Robinson, making them the most successful team in Guernsey tennis history. He has won 3 CI doubles titles and represented Guernsey at 5 Island Games, winning 2 bronze medals at the 1991 Aland games. Richard is a CCA Qualified LTA coach, attained at Loughborough University and Bisham Abbey. Richard is married to Jo and has 2 children. Nicola Zarini Nico is a qualified tennis coach from Italy who will be working alongside Jose and Richard in 2009 to coach both individuals and groups.
Gareth Coombes
was one of our top island juniors and is now making his mark in our senior ranks. He is already well on his way to qualifying to become a LTA coach. His enthusiasm for the game and his authoritative aura around the younger players makes him very well suited to a career as a tennis coach with Skill Set. Michael Mussard is an all round sportsman and has a love for tennis. He is currently taking his first steps to a tennis coaching qualification. Michael's enthusiasm is infectious and will bring a new dynamism to the team. Michael is also a qualified Level 1 Football Coach and Futsal Coach. Becky Hubbard Becky has 20 years hockey playing experience, including for the Great Britain Universities, and in the National Premier League in the UK, and now plays for Guernsey. She has 13 years coaching experience at Level 2 NVQ, first aid certification, and attended a child protection course. Until fairly recently, she was Guernsey's Hockey Development Officer, a position she held for 3 years) and thoroughly enjoyed. Now she is concentrating on coaching, and is delighted to join the Skill Set team. Jane England Moved to Guernsey 4 years ago having worked exclusively in the fitness industry with over 18 years experience in areas including swimming instruction and children's fitness. For 6 years Jane was the Aerobics Co-ordinator for 2 prestigious central London Cannons Clubs. Then Jane set up her own company "Go Aqua Ltd" where she taught master classes,
workshops and training programmes for fitness instructors. After the birth of her 2 sons Jane created pre and post natal workout programmes specifically for New Mums. Jane is married to Nick and has 2 children. OUR SPORTS LEADERS Andy Whittet
